21 Days

If you're here reading this blog, welcome!! I am embarking on a journey to share my life and daily fashion choices for the next 21 days - without shopping or purchasing additional pieces for my wardrobe. I'd like to begin with just 21 days - since that is the amount of time it's supposed to create a habit. My church has an annual 21 Days of Prayer event during January and August which is how I came up with the idea. I want to give up something that I have been putting too much emphasis on and spending way too much time and money on -  all because it's too easy to get caught up in the comparison trap. My goal to "not shop" is something I am dedicated to pursuing. I would love to establish a plan of posting outfit ideas for 6 months without shopping...but like my hair stylist, Heidi, suggested -- start with something more attainable!
Along with recreating styles and affordable fashion, I am currently challenging myself to stop comparing my place in life, what I have and where I've been, to other people's lives. I've recently found myself in a place where I look to social media as a measuring tool for my worth, which is extremely unhealthy and demeaning. I have always enjoyed getting on Instagram to find ideas and inspiration regarding the latest styles; however, each blogger's online presence is not always realistic or representative of an average woman. Don't get me wrong! I absolutely love looking at fashion and getting ideas from my favorite bloggers...but I have found that I too often find myself comparing how I look and how my every day life compares to that of a complete stranger. I decided that wasn't the woman I wanted to become.

Wish me luck and thanks for following me on this new adventure!
